Brown of San Zeno Dop
The brown of San Zeno is a variety grown in chestnut groves that thrive on the slopes of Monte Baldo Veronese, between the Adige river and Lake Garda. For farmers in this area, chestnut growing has been an important economic resource for many centuries. The first historical references on the cultivation of the chestnut tree date back to the Middle Ages while, starting from the 1920s, the traditional brown festival, handed down to the present day under the name of ‘Mostra, took off in the Municipality of San Zeno di Montagna. Mercato del Marrone and now in its XXIX edition.

San Michele a Prada Bassa: a mountain festival that traditionally marks the end of the mountain pasture season on Monte Baldo. From May the mountain of May to the fair at the end of September.

In May the mountains are loaded. About three thousand cows and heifers are conducted on the Monte Baldo pastures. Throughout the summer the world of mountain huts is alive. That summer is a mountain pasture season.
