Brown of San Zeno Dop
The brown of San Zeno is a variety grown in chestnut groves that thrive on the slopes of Monte Baldo Veronese, between the Adige river and Lake Garda. For farmers in this area, chestnut growing has been an important economic resource for many centuries. The first historical references on the cultivation of the chestnut tree date back to the Middle Ages while, starting from the 1920s, the traditional brown festival, handed down to the present day under the name of ‘Mostra, took off in the Municipality of San Zeno di Montagna.
